Have you ever thought about how really heavy psychedelic, trance inducing rock music should sound like? These guys here did. Godzilla In The Kitchen is a three-piece instrumental rock band from Leipzig, Germany.

All band members were early infected by the work of great alternative musicians such as Tool, Faith No More, Helmet or Kyuss to name a few. In 2011 they started their first rehearsals, trying to combine all the different musical aspects tabled by every single one of them to create a unique mixture of melodical recognizability and rhythmic complexity. After three years of on-stage experience and practice these three guys decided to finally get their work pressed on a more tangible and of course a more sellable format.

So they started recording sessions in April 2014 and – after more than one year of recording, mixing and mastering a total of 10 songs with around 60 mins playing time – they were very proud to release their self-titled debut album in May 2015. After a long writing session from 2016 to 2018 they went their own separate ways for almost 2 years. Finally and luckily they took decision to reunite in 2021 to get on stage again.

On the 2nd of April 2021 they released their first music video for Dr. Moth, a song from their first album.

The album was remastered and reissued on this date on a double vinyl. In March 2021 they started the recordings of their second album. On October 28, 2022, their second album EXODUS was released via Argonauta Records. They released two singles: WILL BE TAKEN AWAY & EVERYTHING THAT HAS BEEN GIVEN. The album was presented to a larger audience as part of an extensive tour. They released their first Live Album on February 10th 2023. In 2024 they welcomed their new drummer Thiago Presto from Brazil. The band performed 4 times in a row among others at the Wacken Open Air. They released their first Live Album on February 10th 2023. In 2025 there will be more dates to see the guys live.

Eric Patzschke ^Guitar

Somewhere between classical harmonics and a chainsaw you find the sound of his guitar, shredding very earthy riffs, sometimes heavy, sometimes out-of-space light. The spinning wheel behind GITK.

Thiago Presto ^Drums

The living drum-machine, brings in all the complex framework to keep the strings together. You can imagine any random rhythm - he plays it, even backwards if you like. He is the backbone of GITK.

Simon Ulm ^{Vocals & Bass}

"The bass player is the real Godzilla here." He makes all that complex stuff sound nice and goovy. Sorry girls, he’s married. To his Bass and of course he sings now!

Welche Elemente braucht die perfekte instrumentale Rockmusik? Zu erstmal eine Menge Druck, saftige Riffs und eine Verspieltheit, die Geschichten zu erzählen vermag. Diese drei Jungs hier bringen all das in ihren Songs auf die Bühne.

Godzilla In The Kitchen ist eine dreiköpfige Heavy-Psychedelic-Prog Rock Band aus Leipzig. Im Jahr 2011 steckten sie erstmals ihre Köpfe zusammen und kombinierten all ihre musikalischen Einflüsse zu einer einzigartigen Mischung aus einprägsamen Melodien und rhythmischer Komplexität.

2015 folgte die Veröffentlichung ihres Debütalbums. Nachdem sie mit ihrem Album internationale Aufmerksamkeit erhielten, wurde ihr Debüt 2021 als Doppel-Vinyl neu aufgelegt. Am 28. Oktober 2022 kam ihr zweites Album EXODUS über Argonauta Records heraus. Im Rahmen einer ausgiebigen Tour wurde das Album einem größeren Publikum präsentiert.
Die Band trat unter anderem 4 mal auf dem W:O:A auf. 2025 wird es weitere Termine geben, um die Jungs Live zu erleben.

Eric Patzschke ^Gitarre

Irgendwo zwischen klassischen Harmonien und einer Kettensäge findet man den Klang seiner Gitarre, die sehr erdige Riffs schreddert, manchmal heavy, manchmal schwerelos leicht. Das Spinnrad hinter GITK.

Eric Patzschke ^Drums

Die lebende Drum-Machine, bringt das gesamte komplexe Gerüst ein, um die Saiten zusammenzuhalten. Du kannst dir jeden beliebigen Rhythmus vorstellen – er spielt ihn, sogar rückwärts, wenn du möchtest. Er ist das Rückgrat von GITK.

Simon Ulm ^Bass

„Der Bassist ist der wahre Godzilla hier.“ Er lässt all das komplexe Zeug gut und groovig klingen. Sorry, Mädels, er ist verheiratet: mit seinem Bass! Und natürlich singt er auch noch bei GITK.

"German band Godzilla in the Kitchen are out with the album "Live at Break Out [Argonauta Live Series Vol. 7]", and progressive rock is the style explored on this production. This live album documents quite nicely what this band sounds like outside of a studio environment, and it is interesting to hear how elegant this threesome comes across on stage. The band fluently and easily switch between moods and modes, alternating between dirty groove-oriented riff driven escapades and delicate, light toned and elegant interludes in a seamless manner, and with more playful jazz-oriented details and segues over to more intricate and floating Crimsonian landscapes and more off kilter and quirky guitar riff dominated sequences executed in a logical and effortless manner. They provide a good balance between the vibrant and energetic and the elegant and atmospheric laden, and while moments of a more profound hard rock and borderline stoner rock identity are present it doesn't take the trio long before they enter a more progressive rock oriented sphere of reference again. A live album to seek out if you enjoy instrumental progressive rock that combine a bit of a hard rock swagger with quirky features, light and elegant interludes and a touch of Frippian style guitar antics."
